Aditya Birla Group has touched millions of lives in the world. It is unlikely that you have never used a product, or traveled on a road or visited a site where ABG has not contributed in some way. Its presence in your life is massive.
A US $44.3 billion corporation, the Aditya Birla Group is in the League of Fortune 500. Anchored by an extraordinary force of over 120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities, with over seven decades of responsible business practices in a wide range of sectors – metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom and cement. Today, over 50% of Group revenues flow from overseas operations that span 34 countries in North and South America, Africa and Asia. Having employees in so many different domains in different countries is an amazing achievement and I appreciate this opportunity for any employee of the Aditya Birla Group. I believe these employees get to learn a lot about how such a big organisation functions and coordinates the activities of its diverse sectors. Also, it has been involved in numerous CSR activities to actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities in which they operate. From setting up schools in villages to educating them about health and hygiene and providing midday meals to training people, ABG has done it all.
Moreover the coveted Aditya Birla Group Leadership Programme is a very helpful one for the students giving us an opportunity to intern with one of the most prestigious, one of India’s largest, and one of the most successful conglomerates. I believe this will be a great learning experience being mentored and guided by pedigreed professionals with a wealth of experience.
PART B - How have you made an impact
I remember those days during my XII th standard when the Boards and Entrance Examinations were knocking on the door and I was quite worried. My pre board results were just out and I had under performed in that. I was starting to feel the heat but, I always had the belief that hard work along with smart work will pay and began planning in a structured manner and made a list of all the chapters from the syllabus that I had to cover and assigned certain deadlines for the same. This helped me in keeping track of my progress and also gave me confidence once I kept reaching my short term goals. And this way, I was eventually able to do pretty well in both my XII Boards as well as Entrance Examinations that got me admission in a prestigious engineering college.
Another challenge I remember is during my final year in B.Tech when companies had just started coming for campus placements. But, I had another goal and that was to crack CAT 2018. So, I had this extra load of preparing for CAT besides sitting for campus placements and getting along with the semester classes and assignments. Initially, I found it tough managing time for all these activities and used to get frustrated at times. Still, the vision I had for the long term: to clear CAT as a fresher would be very helpful for me as I knew it would be far difficult to prepare while working. So, despite the challenges, I remained focused and managed my time well to work towards my goal. And finally, was rewarded for my efforts as I cleared CAT 2018 with a decent percentile and was also able to bag multiple jobs from campus.
So, I learnt that it is very important to set realistic goals and if you strive for it hard, everyday, there is nothing that can stop one from fulfilling their dreams and achieving great things.
